Germany plans to lend its hand to Pakistan in energy production sector by assisting solar energy projects in Pakistan financially so that ,Pakistan could overcome its severe shortfall of energy. “Pakistan and Germany have signed two agreements recently for producing power through solar and wind and work will be started before the end of the year on these projects,” Dr. Michael Koch told reporters at the National Press Club on Friday. Agreement was signed between Tuwairqi Steel Mills Limited Engineering (TSMLE) Solar of Pakistan and Solar World of Germany.
The Germany ambassador said that Germany is the biggest trading partners with Pakistan through European Union. “During 2009 the trade volume of Germany with Pakistan remained $1.8 billion although it was slightly less than $2.2 billion recorded in 2008”, he added. He said that since Pakistan has the capacity to produce 41,722 MW hydro powers, 346,000 MW wind power potential and 2.9 million MW from solar system, there seems a lot of potential for development in renewable energy production sector.
A joint team has been established to make the necessary research for the effective implementation of this MoU by assessing technical, commercial and procedural aspects. TSMLE-Solar is a division of TSML working in the field of Solar Energy System, whereas SolarWorld is a European photovoltaics (PV) module manufacturing company which provides design & development in the solar energy sector.
Muhammad Jamshed, Head engineering & Instrumentation, TSML said: “With higher prices and growing scarcity of fossil fuel, solar power is finally emerging as a viable and efficient source of energy”. According to ambassador, SolarWorld will also train personnel in designing of system, installation and marketing. Moreover it will also support the projects started by TSMLE-Solar and will provide transfer of solar energy in the region.
In response to the queries of reporters, German ambassador further emphasized on opening technical institutions in Pakistan for the training of young people, so that relationship between Pakistan and Germany could be strengthened.
Last year in January, AZUR energy group of Germany planned to setup 50MWAtt solar project in Pakistan, for which a feasibility report and site surveys of Multan and Bahawalpur were conducted. Due to increased and severe short fall in energy production, solar energy projects are the need of time which can serve in the uplift of country’s economy.

thanks germans
i think german friends will play their role to overcome our energy problems as the pakistanis gave their blood to defeat USSR in afghanistan without which berlin wall canot be broken & united, independent europe certainly not possible.

yeah that’s right but Pakistanis never realize the efforts from friends. we have never gave importance to Chinese who are doing so much directly or indirectly to help Pakistan and its sovereignty but we have always ignored this aspect and prioritized US who give us a DAMN!!!!
