This pioneering pilot project for Pakistan will result in trained farmers, better yield and a strengthened supply chain. Farmers will get better value for their produce as multi handling of goods will be eliminated while the special concept of this project will create a win-win-win-partnership between METRO Cash & Carry, Government of Punjab and the farmers which will contribute to the overall economic development of the country.
Shahbaz Sharif, the Chief Minister Punjab said that the promotion of modern technology in agriculture sector is of vital importance and the government has taken revolutionary measures for its use in the farming sector for increasing agri production and prosperity of cultivators.
He expressed these views at a briefing given by Anton Knijf, Vice-President International Affairs, METRO Group, and Managing Director Star Farm Consulting Company, Hans Peter regarding Star Farm Technology. John Glover, Head of Regional Offer Management and Customer Management – Asia Region, METRO Cash & Carry International, Giovanni Soranzo, Managing Director METRO Cash & Carry Pakistan, Pervaiz Akhtar, Director Corporate Affairs & Company Secretary and Dirk Essman, Director Offer Management METRO Cash & Carry Pakistan were also present at the occasion.
Also present from the government side were, Pir Saad Ahsanudin Vice-Chairman, Punjab Board of Investment (PBIT), Nasir Mehmood Khosa, Chief Secretary Punjab, Haroon Khawaja, Chairman Special Initiatives, Obaid Rabbani, Secretary Planning and Development, Mian Shaukat Ali, CEO PAMCO, Sardar Zulfiqar Khan Khosa, Advisor to CM, Arif Nadeem, Secretary Agriculture, Mohammed Jehanzeb Khan, Secretary Livestock and Dairy Development, Colonel Shuja Khanzada (Retd), Member Provincial Assembly.
