Just yesterday, after the facebook episode, the old alvi brothers have come forward again this time by starting a local social networking site of Pakistanis www.apnaface.pk.
This newly born platform is being hosted on the local servers and has attracted a good number of Pakistanis who have made their accounts in just few hours.
The site is expected to be the largest representation of Pakistan in the coming days. Similarly, another local site by the name of www.merawatan.pk is also working in the same direction.

Yea, merawatan is really cool social network in pakistan, i joined..
The idea of MeraWatan can be quite confusing to those new to social networking.
So what is MeraWatan?
It is a place to communicate with friends and family, to share photographs or funny links you find on the Web,
and search for long-lost friends or even chat interactively with your buddies.
In short, it is your home on the web.
MeraWatan can be thought of as your home on the Internet. It’s a place people can go to leave you a message, browse through your photo collections, or even chat with you while you are online. It can be a great way to keep in contact with friends and family, and even find long lost friends that you haven’t spoken to in years.
The MeraWatan “wall” is where it all happens. This is where you write comments on what you are up to or share articles with your friends. You’ll also see what your friends and family are posting on their wall, and anyone on your friends list can come by and write a comment on your wall. So not only is the MeraWatan wall a great place to let everyone know you are back from vacation.it is also a place where conversations are started.
MeraWatan is your online photo album:
In addition to keeping up with friends and family, MeraWatan is a great place to upload all of those family photos. Ordinarily, you’d have to whip out the photo album when people are over at the house, but uploading them to MeraWatan means the parents can look at their grandchildren anytime they want.
MeraWatan Profile:
* MeraWatan allows you to maintain a friends list and choose privacy settings to tailor who can see what on your profile.
* MeraWatan allows you to upload photos and maintain photo albums that can be shared with your friends.
* MeraWatan supports interactive online chat and the ability to comment on your friends “walls” in order to keep in touch or just say ‘hi’.
MeraWatan for finding old friends:
Ever wonder whatever happened to your friends? Or your best friend from middle school?
With more and more people joining MeraWatan, it is becoming a great place to look up old friends and getting back in touch.
Remember to start slow:
Now that you know what all you can do with MeraWatan, the trick is to not become overwhelmed by trying to do everything at once.
Start slow by sending friend requests to your friends and family and reading what’s up on their wall.
………..THANK YOU……….
haha funny dudes your knowledge sucks nothing else is the case stop putting this stuff here!

Good work guys! and thanks for sharing the link
Just for the information of Zuhair.
http://www.merawatan.pk
is not using Social Engine………….i’m agree with sylar
yes but we need more as none of them have gathered international attention so far. i mean something big like fb, if not equal to fb then at least something big in Pakistan
both sites are using scripts (socialengine etc), which are not so good and not provide advance customizations, they have to come up with their own script or something like that.
Zohair!! i was talking about the initiative that Pakistanis have taken. As far as expertise are concerned you may be right.
Thats not an initiative, there are already so many social networks running out there by Pakistani fellas.
Just for the information of Zuhair.
http://www.merawatan.pk is not using Social Engine script.
Its design was made by TheDotBrand which took over the project in August 2009.
It was not created after the facebook ban
I am a member there since more than an year now.
i agree with sylar
