Lahore High Court has directed the ministry of telecommunication to block the particular link of Facebook where it is conducting a competition on May 20th about blasphemous cartoons to tease the Muslims all over the world.
Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has also directed the Internet Service Providers (ISPs) to close a link on Facebook where competition of the blasphemous caricatures is going to be held on May 20th.
Facebook currently enjoys more than 400 million subscribers all over the world where Muslim community is a larger part of it. On Monday, hundreds of journalists protested against this competition in front of parliament in Islamabad and demanded from the government to take action against those Jewish lobbies involved to defame Muslims.

do you think it will be a long lasting thing ridhwan as for a day or two you won’t be able to use orkut, mirc fully….
Facebook CLOSED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
BACK TO ORKUT!!!!!!! and msn and yahoo chatroom.. God i missed my mirc!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
it is a bit disappointing though to see that only LHC was bold enough to take the decision.. now supreme court is no where in the picture.. weird???
do you know ridhwan how much revenue we are giving them by just providing them the desired traffic? They start something and we start making groups and sending messages and they achieve their desired commercial results. Even if we block the specific link to the facebook, that matter will be copied on all other platforms, youtube, bloggers, wordpress, joomla, individual sites etc. These things will always be coming to us from there..so just blocking is not the solution, it is just like an ostrich dig the head in sand to avoid any situation.
This the latest issue, what we did in the past when this all started few years back. We were only able to hold demonstration in various countries. I was just going through few lines on cnn.com and the crux was “These Pakistanis can’t stop the drone attacks in their own country, then how this nation and other Muslims will be able to do something about any such issue, which is also a virtual event”.
i totally agree with u on this mudassar sb..
we can always start doing something more creative and innovative that could help us promote our own religion and thn do all the e-stuff for it. but thn again whos gonna initiate this process?? and do u believe that we will be able to promote it at the same magnitude as they are doing it??
Yes why not. We have all the brains, resources everything. The only thing we lack is the Will, Integrity and the effective decision making. Being individuals we have to keep encouraging, supporting and pushing each other unless the platform becomes bigger. Currently we are scattered and being played by our rulers. No ruler in any Muslim country will start anything on his own. It will be the people, whether Pakistan or any other Muslim country. Only will come forward and make the difference. At that moment, utilising resources won’t be an issue.
so this is how it works: they decide to do this s#Itty competition and just leave a msg on FB. and v crazy lunatics keep promoting it by going against it…. hey now thats some really crazzy thing going on in there.. nd now v gotta figure out how to stop ourselves from promoting it..
@Ridhwan, You are right that we are coward and loser we should act strongly and aggressively but if do the same then it can’t be justified. If we make fun of Jesus, we being Muslim also believe in him and our religion does not allow us to make fun of other religion, this is where they (Christians or some part of them) lack.
This is not something like, some opponent hacked your national site and you do the same and its over or at least you are level. This is something entirely different.
It is just our learned people, scholars, decision makers are hiding their selves , they are the people who have some standing in the society and their words can make a difference, they are silent and we poor people are trying to raise this issue and this is not making any difference. We need to have an eye to eye contact. A counter attack or protest which could shake their lands. It should be loud and assertive. It must be quick and decisive. But the unfortunate part, who is going to start?????
@fasih: sir i think we should try to beat them in their own game.. v muslims are not limited ppl.. our population is almost as them. and if they can do smthing so blasphemous and make it big y cant v do the same..
i know its becuz of the media propaganda and stuff but this is where we lack.. we’ve become a coward nation of losers who have no guts to stand up for their own rights
I wonder and feel ashamed how couldn’t we know about this nonsense activity of evil so late. May be we were busy in T20 shit. We are always well informed about the all useless activities and in such noble matters, we are always late.
Govt. must ban the entire facebook, so they could realize that how it effects their business. Pakistani companies must stop the business support to them.
guyz it must be taken care of. All Pakistani ISPs must respond urgently.
Not yet blocked on Wateen Yet
@hashi: dude can u just drop an email from your side to wateen guys nd ask thm to do it straight away.. this is gonna b an effort from ur side.. atleast u’ll do ur contribution towards this menace
I strongly condemn facebook for doing any such thing to hit the Muslim community. We must boycott the entire facebook because if they can’t respect our sentiments, we can’t call it a genuine and a neutral platform.
