Pakistan has competitive enough human resource and state-of-the-art infrastructure available in the industries to compete in the global market. Locally produced building materials, tiles, home décor, fixtures/fittings are at par with international standards which will expand the export base and generate foreign exchange for the country. These views were expressed by the construction and designing experts at the inauguration of the 6th IAPEX Int’l Exhibition 2010 here in Expo Center Karachi.
Experts said that esthetic design of locally produced goods like tiles, furniture and fixtures not only shows the hard work of the designers but also promote the art and rich culture of our country around the globe.
Mr. Alireza M. Alladin, Managing Director, Shabbir Tiles, the main sponsor of the exhibition, said on the occasion that the mindset of people in Pakistan needs to be changed to have more faith in the locally manufactured goods rather than in imported material. It is important for us to support the local industry to solve the biggest challenge of unemployment and improve the living standards of fellow countrymen.
He said that it is also very important to construct a solid heritage for our future generations as what we build today will be the heritage of tomorrow and it should display our strengths based on indigenous resources.
Briefing the audience about Shabbir Tiles, Alireza said that Shabbir Tiles, a part of “House of Habib”, is among the leading manufacturers of international standard ceramic and porcelain tiles in Pakistan. Stile is a ceramic and porcelain tile company in Pakistan to have worldwide recognition for quality of its brands, earning ISO certification and awards like Superbrand.
The company has recently launched the manufacturing of the largest tile in Pakistan of 800cm X 800cm size which is a milestone in the construction industry.
He said that Shabbir Tiles is exporting its range of products including ceramic wall tiles, porcelain floor tiles, glazed porcelain floor tiles to the Middle East and African countries, while negotiations with Sri Lanka and Bangladesh are underway. With a capacity of producing over 12 million sqm. Per year and the largest dealer network of 350, Shabbir Tiles is the leader in local industry having 10 emporiums located in major cities of the country displaying most of its product range.
Later, the chief guest, Jimmy Engineer, visited the stalls and appreciated the range of products being showcased at the event by various local manufacturers and congratulated the organizers of IAPEX 2010 on providing a platform for manufacturers and exhibitors where they could prove their capability of producing international standard products while meeting the local and global market demands.

I definitely agree.
We have individuals who have fresh and zesty personalities and can make Pakistan stand out. A small example would be our marketing and advertising sector. Glow’s lauch seems to be more towards boosting the young music sector than just promoting their product. I feel this is a good example of partly-CSR and partly ATL.
