After a long silence, Sony Ericsson has planned to start its operations in Pakistan through its sole distributor “Outlet Pvt Ltd”. According to Outlet, Sony Ericsson awarded the distribution in December2009 and currently we are looking for potential partners throughout Pakistan for our business.
Outlet has a prior experience of Thomson Mobile phones and its other electronics products in Pakistan which it also plans to re-launch sometimes later this year. Unlike some of the existing distributors, Outlet will not directly do the selling activity directly; instead, it will rely upon the strength of its business partners.
In 2005-07, Sony Ericsson had emerged to be a power music brand in Pakistan which had shaken its competitors and grabbed a considerable market share because of easy to use and much attractive music handsets. It would be interesting to see how this brand creates its market position from the scratch as currently its market share is negligible due to previous distribution failures in Pakistan.
Could you confirm that this information is valid? as i am interested in buying Xperia Arc S, but so far don’t find any one providing this phone in pakistan (Peshawar, Karachi, Lahore, Pindi/ISB)
Shahid, Sony Ericsson is being imported in Pakistan through grey/illegal channel. No distributor has been appointed by SE since they finished their operations in Pakistan years ago. You will have to rely on the grey channel.
