Recently, Texas Federal Court has issued a $ 290 million ruling against Microsoft and also asked Microsoft to stop the sales of its Microsoft Word 2007 from January 11.
In October Canadian firm i4i claimed that Microsoft had infringed its patents for an XML editor. Microsoft appealed against this claim which was over-ruled. Now after this ruling Microsoft have to stop certain versions of Word 2007 from coming into the market. This overruling has created problems for hardware vendors whose netbooks and notebooks are preinstalled with MS-Word 07 and are ready for shipping.
