Mobilink to dive into 4G Technology

Recently, in an interview with Daily Times, President Mobilink, Rashid Khan said that maybe Mobilink will go for 4G-LTE Technology instead of 3G.

During the conversation he said, “In Pakistan, 3G Technology has been in discussion for some time in Pakistan and we are negotiating with the Government and Pakistan Telecommunication Authority in this regard.”

He welcomed the Government initiative for giving Telecom sector relaxation in taxes. He said that about $2.5 billion worth of investments are made by Mobilink to upgrade its infrastructure while Mobilink has spent some $250 million this year for network up-gradation.

Currently Mobilink has about 8000 cell sites and 2000 touch points in the country, these large numbers makes us the market leader in Pakistan he added.

Talking about the country’s next year initiative he said that Mobilink is going to launch Value added services for its customers and in this regard we are about to launch Branchless Banking in M commerce in Pakistan. Branchless Banking will allow customers to pay utility bills, open and use bank accounts through mobile phones.

Discussing future plans of the company he said that future is Broadband, Cable TV and in this regard our company is also focusing on broadband services. Infinity is our venture in Broadband and we are hopeful that it will become a top name in Broadband provider companies list.
