Megagate T610 Titan stands somewhere in between a true smartphone and the more humble mobilephones in use today. Keeping in view the price slot, we should not match this phone with any high end feature rich touch phone or a smartphone, therefore, we will have to review it from the perspective of entry-level user and see what it offers in this category. It is a dual SIM mobile that offers smooth transition from one SIM to another without having to open the set.
It has a 3.2” clean broad screen and weighs 93 grams. Available in black with the rear side made of aluminum the phone is surprisingly attractive for a lower end mobile.
Screen and display:
It has a resistive touch screen at the resolution of 240 x 400. It is a relatively old technology and doesn’t support multi-touch but is comparatively lower in price than the active touchscreen. It works great with screens mostly used with stylus or any pointing object but it is not very efficient in registering the pin point location when used with finger.
Looking at the more positive side of things the phone has 8 screens displaying different options. You can choose from a range of wallpapers both active and non-active to display on your homescreen which makes for an interesting experience.
You can play around with the widgets by pressing the menu button which displays all your widgets on one screen and choose cool display options like tornado and space beam for arranging them.
Calling and Music playing:
The speaker phone and earphone both work fine and call quality is excellent. The pack comes with a set of bundled earphones which you can use to listen to the music on the MP3 Player or FM. You can also record directly from FM and play it on the MP3 player which in my view is just awesome!
Messaging:
Being a touch phone it has a soft QWERTY keyboard. Apart from the good touch response, one of the downside of keyboard is that keys are a bit too small and closely packed which makes your messages prone to misspellings and typing errors and given the touch capabilities, it is a test of your patience especially for the guys having relatively bigger fingers.
Applications:
It comes with one pre-installed game whereas all the java-supported games can be installed. There are no WiFi or WLAN facilities and no office programs. Once you activate your GPRS you can enjoy social networking sites such as facebook and twitter etc. Regular features such as clock, alarm, memos, to dos, and calendars are present. It supports infrared, is Bluetooth enabled and has a few special features such as e-reader. It has also kept in view the Pakistani market and pre-installed applications like the zakat calculator.
It has a Chinese OS and not many applications can be downloaded which is a serious limitation specially for those who want to use their phones for e-mailing clients, drawing up documents and working on PDF files etc. It has the fluid touch interface
Browsing:
The mobile has a good browser Opera that is one of the biggest names in browsers, except Firefox and Internet Explorer. It supports all updates and improves speed by operating a set of proxy cache servers to speed up access to popular sites, as well as an advanced rendering engine that is faster than anything else on the market. There is also a host of other features, such as multi-window browsing, a startup page “grid” that lists the most often used websites (including your bookmarks). It also has online backup of your bookmarks and settings and “saved pages,” keyboard shortcuts, among other features.
It does have a few problems. It does not support geo-location (i.e. the browser can’t get coordinates from your GPS). It does not support pinch zoom (although you can use 3 different text sizes and a few different zoom levels) – again don’t compare it with any high end HTC or Samsung device, it won’t do justification. However, it does have a better interface and is generally faster. Experts rate it really well in the area of performance.
Camera:
Megagate has a 3.2-megapixel camera with auto focus. Stills are of ok quality and given the price of the phone I’d say the camera is actually nice if you don’t use it in low light conditions because there is no flash. Indoor lighting results are better than those taken outdoor. Brightness can be changed to suit the conditions however there are few options to choose from. The camera can capture videos and has sound recording features.
Battery:
Megagate T610 Titan has a Standard Li ion battery, 1000 mAh with talk time up to 4 h and Standby time Up to 500 h.
The data cable given along with the mobile is multipurpose. It connects the charger to the mobile and also acts as a USB device that you can plug into your laptop!
Storage Capacity
The internal memory of the phone is 44 MB and it supports expandable memory MicroSD Card up to 8 GB.
Conclusion:
Megagate T610 Titan is a lower end mobile phone which is modeled after smartphones. There are some very nice displays and music playing options, however due to software limitations many applications are not downloadable. For people with budget constraints Megagate offers the closest experience to smartphones and unlike other options doesn’t burn a hole in your pockets as it costs only Rs 6800. Given the price I’d say the package is worth it!

Just plug in the data cable to you computer USB port and Select MAss Storage on your phone and your phone will appear as Regular drive in my computer as simple as that!

just plug its data cable into pc port nd second one in ur cell, it will connect automatically, if not then check ur pc drivers or update them.

It is one of the best phone i have bought absulutely brilliant in this price range faster processor and super fast web browsing ! also supports you tube streaming i only wihs it has wifi too but never the less its awesome and yea one more thing you forgot to mention in your review that it have downloadable Widgets !

Even without support for large number of third party software, Titan has a lot to offer, like personal organizer and a good user interface and experience, the rest is just a matter of time till mega-gate too catches up those improvements like the leading mobile phone manufacturers, they too did not reached this state with their first mobile phone.

@ Rafaqat, Nokia hota tu yahi phone aap ko 15/ 20 hazaar may mil raha hota. Waisay kabhi daikha hai Nokia ka touch phone 7 hazaar may. Nokia kay 15 hazar walay touch ki quality check karay tu pata chalay gaa.
Good one but if company is interested in consistant sale of product they should improve software.
